SPCF 3 ON 3 BASKETBALL LEAGUE RULES

Prior to Game

Teams will be assigned. Each team will have three (3) to five (5) players. No changes to team roster are allowed without express consent from commissioner.

If a team does not have two (2) or more players within five (5) minutes after the scheduled start time, the game will be forfeited.

Each game will have a court monitor who will keep score, call out 3 seconds in the key and stalling, and settle disputes.

A coin toss will determine which team has first possession.

To start play, the ball must be thrown in from check box in the center court circle.

Game Play

Games will be 15 minutes each.

In the event of a tie, a coin toss will determine which team gets first possession of the ball. Play will commence and the first team to score any point wins. All fouls during tie breaker result in free throws – one (1) shot for a foul inside the three-point arc and two (2) shots for a foul outside the three-point arc.

The ball will change possession after each scored basket – no “make it, take it.”

No stalling is allowed. Court monitor will determine stalling offenses and ball will change possession.

All jump balls go to the team on defense.

Out of bounds results in stop of play and change of possession. Court monitor will help settle any dispute on who last touched the ball.

Each team may call two (2) 30-second time outs. Clock continues to run. No time outs may be called in the last two (2) minutes.

Ball must be taken behind the three-point arc for each change of possession. If play has stopped, ball must be thrown in from check box in center court circle.

Three seconds in the key offenses will be determined by court monitor and ball will change possession.

Baskets made inside the arc count one (1) point. Baskets made behind the arc count two (2) points.

The ball is out of bounds if it passes over the top of the backboard or touches any part of the mounting structure behind the backboard.

Fouls are called by the person being fouled.

If a player is fouled in the act of shooting and makes the shot, the point counts and the ball changes possession. If the shot is missed, the player who was fouled shoots one (1) free throw – two (2) if the shot was behind the arc. There is no rebound from the free throw. Whether made or missed, the ball changes possession and is thrown in from the check box.

In the last two (2) minutes of game time, all fouls result in two (2) free throws.

Every player on the team must play at least five (5) minutes of game time.

The commissioner reserves the right to add or make changes to this official list of rules at any time during the season.
